Letter to the Editor of BMWMOA
By Jim Zell, Virginia
I recently returned to Virginia from one of the best vacations yet and
thought the membership would be interested in some of the details.
While visiting friends living on Whidbey Island (2 hours NW of Seattle)
I had the pleasure of renting a motorcycle from Mountain To Sound
Motorcycle Adventures. I can't lavish enough praise on RT and his wife
Brenda for their attention to every detail and for their devotion to
ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction and service. Theirs
is a relatively small venture devoted to high-end motorcycle rentals and
tours in the Pacific Northwest, headquarted near Seattle.
I've been riding air-cooled Beamers 27 years and had reserved a K1200LT three months in advance. I got a call from RT 2 weeks before
arriving advising me a previous rider had crunched the LT on a curve and
sadly it would no longer be available in time for me. RT knew how
psyched I had been to explore the great roads out there and
sympathetically offered a discount on any other bikes in his fleet. Now
this is where I'll be losing some of you but no matter...this had been
the only Beamer available and I promptly took him up on his offer by
reserving a new Harley Davidson Road King. For those not up to snuff on
recent Harley technology, I assure you this bike performed incredibly
well and was stable at speeds many of us are used to riding. Y2K
developments at Harley have made their bikes vibration-free, fuel
injected, and dependable. While conceding lean angle because of the
floorboards (it is a cruiser, after all), I got wired into this bike in
short order and proceeded to ride with the joy and freedom afforded by
some of the best roads in the nation.
If any of you folks are considering touring Washington state give RT a
call at (425) 222-5598. They have a nice web site at mtsma.com. He'll
hook you up with world class bikes on world class roads with world class
service!

P.S. An observation: I've been riding long enough to sort of
understand the reason to the following but...the only folks not
returning waives were on Beamers and Gold Wings. It's what we've been
maintaining for so many years: their should be a brotherhood of sorts
amongst all riders. Apparently the snob appeal reaches all marques.
